CHI2004 Travel Information

Location

CHI2004 will be held at Austria Center Vienna, Bruno-Kreisky-Platz 1, A-1220 Vienna, Austria, Europe. For additional details on the Austria Center Vienna and how to reach it, please visit their web site at http://www.acv.at.

Public Transport

The use of public transportation is strongly recommended. Vienna has a distributed network of underground lines, trams and buses.

To reach the Austria Center Vienna from the city centre (Stephansplatz) take the U1 underground line (red). Alight at Vienna International Centre/Kaisermühlen and take the exit marked Schüttaustraße. Travelling time is approximately 10 minutes from the city center.

Several types of tickets are available depending on your needs. A single ticket (advance sale) valid for one ride is € 1,50. A 24-hour ticket is € 5,00 and a 72-hour ticket is € 12,00. A special Vienna Card (including some other benefits like reduced entrance fees in museums) valid also for 72 hours is € 16,90. A week pass is € 12,50. Tickets can be purchased at designated ticket offices in railway stations and underground stations, tobacconists, and ticket machines.

Air Travel

Arrival at the Airport Wien-Schwechat
The Vienna Airport is situated approximately 16 km (12 miles) from the centre of Vienna. Vienna Airport Services buses link the airport to the Vienna City Air Terminal at the Hotel Hilton (Am Stadtpark/Landstrasser Hauptstrasse) three times per hour. The bus ride to Vienna takes approximately 20 minutes, and the ticket costs approximately € 5,80. From the Vienna City Air Terminal, taxis and public transport (U3, U4) are easily available. A taxi ride from the airport to the center of Vienna costs approximately € 32.

The City Airport Train
In only 16 minutes the City Airport Train takes its passengers non-stop from the City Air Terminal in the heart of Vienna to the airport. No traffic jams, no stress – guaranteed. Services run from 05:05 to 23:35, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. To get to the City Air Terminal you can catch the underground, bus, or taxi. The jet ambience and extra-large First Class seats aboard the City Airport Train create a relaxing atmosphere in double-deck cars with extra-wide aisles and luggage racks permitting the passenger to keep an eye on his or her luggage at all times. On board information screens will entertain with interesting programs, and train attendants are at passengers’ service. One single drive costs € 9,00 and round-trip costs € 16,00.

Austrian, Austrian Arrows, and Lauda are the official carriers for our event. They offer the most frequent flights to and from Austria. Please contact your nearest Austrian Airlines office or travel agent where you will receive information on flights and fares.

As a participant in the CHI2004 conference, you and one accompanying person will benefit from a favorable conference fare on Austrian, Austrian Arrows, and Lauda flights (excluding certain reduced and action fares). Please identify yourself as a CHI2004 participant by presenting your registration and referring to CODE – ACM04.
